iTunes Music – Top 10

Jun24

Written by Carlos

So recently I’ve been asked a lot about music. I’ve been asked my thoughts on country music, I’ve been asked what I listen to the most, and I’ve been trying to figure out how to explain it all while asserting my love for everything creative and obviously everything music. One clue to what I listen to the most on a regular basis, or as much as regular can be ascertained by iTunes, is what songs are my Top 10 listened to songs of whatever length of time I’ve had my current iPod. Just as a quick explanation, this isn’t a constantly rotating Top 10, since I typically keep my iPod on shuffle. The iPod doesn’t count a “play” unless the song completely plays all the way through, and as a matter of fact, the current #1 actually took a couple of years to finally surpass what is currently #2. Kind of cool I think. A lot of these songs have very specific reasons as to why they get played so much and most of those reasons are personal so I won’t go into detail. Here are the current Top 10. Perhaps when there’s a major shift on this list I’ll post an update. The whole country music breakdown one will be coming soon!

#1: Comptine D’Un Autre Été – Yann Tiersen
#2: C’mere – Interpol
#3: You Are The One – Shiny Toy Guns
#4: One – U2
#5: Not Even Jail – Interpol
#6 – Something Beautiful – Newsboys
#7 – Pienso En Ti- Shakira
#8 – Undying- Demon Hunter
#9 – Freezing- Mozella
#10 – What Hurts The Most – Rascal Flatts

RED + Disciple Overload

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, the RED, Disciple concert was pretty awesome last week. There are times when I put a band or artist aside for a while and it’s not until I catch a live show or a friend plays a song that I’m reminded of the music I have and of how awesome some of it is. I went back through my Disciple and RED catalogs and dug up some old tunes and found some new good ones also. I’m a complete sucker for live music, it doesn’t matter if you just created your band the same day of the concert, odds are I’m going to like it and I’m going to buy your CD. Disciple just announced that they’re going out on a headlining tour soon so I will most definitely inform my partners in crime and we’ll probably be hitting that. Having said that here’s some more RED, good stuff!!

Update: Dang it, I thought there was an actual video for Never Be The Same but I guess not, oh well, enjoy the song anyway.

The Nothing & Everything Tour

Went to the above-titled tour in Redlands, CA friday night. The lineup consisted of Silverline, Brian “Head” Welch, Disciple and as headliner, RED. I’ve seen Disciple and Head before but hadn’t seen RED before. Let me preface all this by saying that the show was pretty amazing. I’ve never heard of Silverline but they did a good job prepping the crowd and their music was actually enjoyable. The heavy hitters started coming after that with Head taking the stage. I really, really enjoy Head’s music and am eagerly awaiting for new music from him. Disciple then took the stage as the acts kept getting bigger and the crowd kept getting more and more into the entire show. Disciple is just a rockin’ band that I’ve loved for years now, ever since I saw them open for Stryper when they were close to unknown. They’ve only gotten better and better with each release. That was my 3rd time seeing them. RED splashed on the scene a couple of years ago and their sound already had them at the top of their game. They’re the biggest of all these bands and their set was incredible. Song after song, they offer nothing but rock/perfection. The show was awesome, got me a Disciple shirt (white in color to top it off) and now I’m stuck wanting for more. Here are a few examples of Disciple and RED music. Enjoy!

Disciple, their somewhat mellow side:

Disciple, a bit heavier:

RED, being mellow:

RED, being their heavier self!

Me and Ryan Clark of Demon HunterIt’s definitely been a while since I’ve posted anything personal but here we go. Just wanted to post a couple of pics from the Demon Hunter concert in Pomona, California. The night….actually make that, the day was awesome! Saw a bunch of bands since the concert lasted all day long. Kudos to Living Sacrifice, they rocked as always and their new song sounds like a definite winner. Demon Hunter of course, were the dynamic group that they are once again. Much thanks to them for putting together a great show, thanks to Ryan for autographing one of my shirts and for snapping a pic with me and thanks to Yogi for signing a piece of one of his drumsticks. I will post the evidence shortly.
