I’ve been delving back into more and more foreign films, seeing as how that’s the only place original stories come from. I was recently asked how I find out about these films, where do I find them or read about them, what sites I visit, etc. The fact is they just seem to invade my mind from various places. Typically, one film begets another for me, I just see trailers in what I’m watching and that’s how the cycle keeps its rhythm. If i see a commercial on TV that catches my eye, I usually file it away and then I try to keep an eye out for that given film in theaters or Netflix. That pretty much tells how I got a hold of these two movies. One is a Colombian/Spanish production, La Cara Oculta, the other is from Pedro Almodovar, no need for me to explain where that one is from. Both these movies deal with some very dark subjects, dark matter, but they’re both extremely well made, extremely entertaining and with great endings. You would definitely do yourself a favor by catching either one of these or both and don’t be surprised when you see these stories remade in Hollywood.
Shakira has unleashed the latest video for the single Addicted To You, off her Sale El Sol album. This was one of the rare english tracks on an otherwise spanish album and she definitely went ahead and released most of the more upbeat, danceable songs off this album as singles, as evidenced here. The whole album is awesome and goes way deeper with some very strong, well written love songs. Cool video though!!!
So the whole of the soccer/football mania continues to be in full swing. I guess it was best encapsulated this past weekend when my LA Galaxy won with goals from Landon Donovan and David Beckham. It then continued with one of the greatest soccer matches I’ve ever seen as the US Women defeated Brazil in the Womens World Cup after playing for 120 minutes and settling it all in PKs. USA went down a player in regular time and then went down a goal in extra time before tying it with about a minute of play time left in the second frame of extra time, about 122 minutes in. It was an exhilarating, memorable game to say the least, one which released elation that reverberated all over Twitter. The soccer spectrum came full circle after Colombia also defeated Bolivia and became the first team to advance to the quarterfinals of the Copa America. This whole soccer mania will continue as MLS continues its season and the EPL teams make their way here to the US for their pre-season tours and of course, as The FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia kicks off at month’s end. The beautiful game just continues to be so.
Finalmente ya salio el video oficial de Sale El Sol. Una cancion bien simple y romantica que poco a poco se transforma en un caos de amor llegando al final.
