So the Perseids hit their peak tonight, overnight. I’ve only been witness to a handful of cool cosmic events but this meteor shower promises to be spectacular so I’ll be heading out tonight after midnight to the local mountains to try and get some photographs of the meteors. I’m sure I’ll be able to see plenty of meteors and shooting stars tonight and If I’m able to get anything decent through my camera lens, I’ll be sure to post a couple of pictures. Stay tuned…

Update: OK, so that was an awesome adventure! I was out there for close to 3 hours and I saw about 14 or so meteors and a handful of them were really impressive. You could actually see them catch on fire as they entered the atmosphere and they left a smoke trail. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch any of them with my camera but here are a couple of pics. What the valley looked like from the mountains, a little fun with time-lapse photography and my phone and what the sky looked like.

Here’s a wallpaper that’s been making its rounds all over the internet for a couple of years now. I took this picture out in Hi-Vista, California and it’s been very well received as a desktop wallpaper.
